About Tonbo Imaging India Limited
Tonbo Imaging India Limited, incorporated in December 2003, is a global defence electronics original equipment manufacturer (OEM) engaged in the design, development and manufacturing of advanced electro-optic and infrared (EO/IR), embedded vision, communication, guidance and surveillance systems for defence and security applications. Its portfolio includes thermal imaging systems, weapon sights, missile seekers, fire control systems, missile guidance and targeting systems, and handheld thermal imaging devices.
The company’s product portfolio is broadly classified into tactical systems, platform systems and directed energy systems. Tactical systems are designed for imaging, surveillance, reconnaissance and targeting applications. Platform systems include subsystems that provide observation and fire-control capabilities for aerial, ground and weapon platforms, as well as end platforms designed for threat neutralisation. Under directed energy systems, the company has developed technology components for a high-power microwave (HPM) platform branded as “WaveStrike”, aimed at countering threats such as drone swarms.
Tonbo serves defence and security organisations across 24 countries and has more than 28,000 systems deployed in the field. During FY24 to FY26, it was India’s largest manufacturer of thermal imaging systems for government and defence agencies and the country’s largest exporter of thermal imaging systems by volume. Its products are developed using fully owned intellectual property and are free from International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) restrictions, supporting exports across international markets.
The company follows an innovation-driven business model supported by in-house research and development, proprietary technologies and advanced manufacturing capabilities. It is also an approved supplier under India’s Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured (IDDM) defence procurement framework, aligning its operations with the Government of India’s “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives.
As of June 30, 2026, Tonbo Imaging India Limited had 339 permanent employees across product design and development, manufacturing, project management, sales, finance, human resources and management functions.
