Through your broker, bank or demat account
Most broker apps show the allotment result in the IPO section after T+1. You will also see the UPI block released in your bank account if you were not allotted, or the shares appear in your demat holdings on T+2 if you were.
Why you may not get an allotment
- Oversubscription: when the retail or sNII category is oversubscribed, a computerised lottery picks the applicants who get a minimum lot. Most applicants miss out in heavily subscribed issues. See the live IPO subscription status to gauge your odds.
- UPI mandate not accepted: if you did not approve the mandate before the cut-off, your bid was never placed.
- Insufficient funds: the full bid amount must stay blocked until allotment.
- Technical rejection: a PAN mismatch, a wrong DP/Client ID, or multiple applications under the same PAN.
What happens to your money
IPO applications through UPI or ASBA only block the amount in your bank account. If you are allotted shares, the amount for those shares is debited and any excess is released. If you are not allotted, the full block is released by T+2. There is no refund transfer to wait for, though some banks take a few hours to show the updated balance.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check my IPO allotment status?
Find the IPO in the table above and click "Check allotment" to open the registrar's allotment page. Select the IPO name, enter your PAN, application number or DP/Client ID, complete the captcha and submit. You can also check on the BSE or NSE websites, or look for the shares in your demat account after the credit date.
When is IPO allotment status announced?
Under SEBI's T+3 timeline, the basis of allotment is finalised on the first working day after the IPO closes (T+1). Registrars usually publish the status that evening. Refunds and share credit happen on T+2, and the shares list on T+3.
What is an IPO registrar?
The registrar is the agency appointed by the company to process applications, finalise the basis of allotment with the stock exchange, credit shares to demat accounts and release funds. KFin Technologies, MUFG Intime India (formerly Link Intime), Bigshare Services, Skyline Financial Services and Purva Sharegistry are some of the registrars handling Indian IPOs.
Why did I not get an IPO allotment?
When an IPO is oversubscribed, retail and small NII shares are allotted by a computerised lottery, so many valid applicants receive nothing. Applications can also be rejected for an unaccepted UPI mandate, insufficient balance, a PAN mismatch or multiple applications under the same PAN.
When will I get my money back if I am not allotted?
For UPI and ASBA applications the money was only blocked, not debited. The block is released by T+2, and the amount becomes available in your bank account again, usually the same day.
When will allotted shares appear in my demat account?
Allotted shares are credited to your demat account on T+2, a day before listing. They show in your broker app once credited and can be sold from listing day.
Can I check IPO allotment status by PAN number?
Yes. Most registrars and the BSE allotment page let you search by PAN. You can also search by application number or DP/Client ID if you prefer.
